As the plane landed on the heart of the land, everyone cannot hide the smile on their faces. This is such a wonderful place that seems to have a lot of mysteries and wonders. The rich culture and the people saying, “welcome to “Davao’ with those genuine smiles made anyone’s heart flutter with joy. Every person who would visit this place would fall in deeply love with it right away.

The journey to another city of dreams took place when the only reason was not to explore but to unite with it. Be one with it until you go back home.

Tale-like culture
When you walk the streets of Davao, everything you see is part of the city’s rich culture. For example, you do not need to go to the main market just to find the famous durian; all you have to do is to put on your slippers and walk around the town; trust me, durians are everywhere.

Next stop, the traditional attires and dances. Just when you arrive at the airport, you would notice the people of Davao dancing their traditional dances with their cultural music filling the air. Wearing their attires made of woven fabrics in different patterns, they are enjoying every single sway, with smiles on their faces.

Hospitality, discipline
I have never seen a city like Davao when it comes to the people’s discipline. For every person we met, there was one or more virtue that not only the people of Davao should imbibe, but all Filipinos, if possible.

First thing I noticed, few minutes after arriving, was a van driver who quickly asked us where we were going and if we needed assistance. We were delighted that the people here practice hospitality. The van driver even guided us to where we should go, and should not go.

As the seventh safest city in the world, the streets of Davao─at any time of the day─is never scary. Unlike other cities where thieves and other criminals are lurking in the dark, Davao’s streets are filled with happy and carefree people.

Dream-like destinations
The most recent addition to the city’s fame is its hosting of the 2019 Palarong Pambansa, and that is the main reason why we are here. The opportunity is too precious to be ignored, even just for a short period of time. With all the surreal tourist spots waiting to be explored, your stay in Davao will never be boring or lonely. In Davao City, you can see anything you want to see. From flatlands, to mountains; from rivers to beaches, they are all here.

To prove this, one should visit the Island Garden of Samal. Found in the Davao Gulf, it is embraced by nine wonderful islands where you can watch a perfect sunset and sunrise. Upon arriving on this island, the welcoming breeze eases your worries, the finest white sand tickles the toes, and the soft splashes of waves bring about happiness.

There many other paradise-like spots, like the Davao Crocodile Park, the Philippine Eagle Center, or the Virgin Falls, which are ideal if one’s bucket list is to embrace the environment.

Call me paradise
In Davao, the feeling of being in a fairytale is not hard to find. In fact, it is everywhere. It is a place where all good things come together to form a surreal picture. Yes, the city of your dreams exist, and that city is no less than Davao.
