DepEd to hold 2nd National K to 12 Confab

January 10, 2017

In its continuing commitment to deliver quality and relevant education for Filipino learners, the Department of Education (DepEd) is set to conduct the 2nd National K to 12 Conference at the PICC on January 10-11, 2017.
Anchored on the theme, “One DepEd for Quality Basic Education,” the two-day conference will gather education officials, school administrators, curriculum specialists, academics, teachers and education stakeholders to share with one another the best and most successful implementation practices of the K to 12 Program which is mandated by Republic Act 10533 otherwise known as “Basic Education Act of 2013.”
The conference is composed of plenary and parallel sessions. The first plenary session will feature the Keynote Speech of the DepEd Secretary, Honorable Leonor Magtolis Briones. It will be followed by four (4) parallel sessions on the first and second day where participants are distributed into eight (8) break-out sessions covering various programs in the different key stages of the basic education: Kinder-Grade 6, Junior High School, and Senior High School.
In the break-out sessions, representatives from regions and divisions will answer questions such as: “In what ways have you been successful in implementing Multigrade/Madrasah/Indigenous Peoples Education Program in your school/district/division/region?”; “In what ways did you resolve issues on learning resources?”; and “In what ways have you been successful in establishing partnerships with your local government unit?” These should be answered with evidence-based presentations. An integral part of these sessions is the sharing of experiences of all participants.
The government is keen on revolutionizing the Philippine educational system, hence, the DepEd administered a shift to a fresh learning scheme in 2011. It aims to provide Filipino learners tools to transform society and consequently, become a more competitive and progressive Philippines.
