“Ganito pala sa Senior High.” This is what the Senior High School Department of Makiling National High School wanted to communicate to all students who participated the Senior High School festival last October 2016.
The Senior High School students were given the chance to plan, organize and manage an entire event that lasted for three consecutive days. The Senior High School students showcased their talents in different avenues.
There were students who demonstrated their communication skills in film-making, play, oration, and even dramatic monologue. Electronic Product Assembly and Servicing (EPAS) and Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM) displayed their talents in installing attention-grabbing lighting effects in their horror house, while the Baking and Pastry Production (BPP) had a baking show wherein mouth-watering pastries were presented and tasted. There was even a Science and Math exhibit that stimulated the minds of the Junior High School students who visited the booth, and the Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM) students were so happy honing their marketing and entrepreneurial skills as they offered nutritious and affordable goodies to their fellow students.
Overall, it was a successful event. Students were given equal opportunity to discover their hidden talents and skills. The event gave them a glimpse of the real world, and smiles appeared on their faces as they tasted a little of what is waiting for them when they leave the school after graduation.
When we heard statements like, “Sir, hindi ko alam na kaya ko po palang humarap sa ibang tao. First time ko po yun” and “Ang saya pala saSenior High. Dito ako next year.” We knew we did something right.
Makiling National High School is situated in Makiling, Calamba City.

“Makiling NHS Senior High School Festival aims to let SHS students explore and share their talents; and at the same time, this would encourage our Junior High School students, especially the grade 10, to continue their studies and finish senior high school assuring their better future,” said Mrs. Elenita Villanueva, School Head of MNHS.
