- In response to the felt needs of students enrolled in the various courses in colleges and universities, and upon recommendation of the Philippine Association for Graduate Education (PAGE) and the Bureau of Higher Education, weekend and Saturday classes for graduate courses other than teacher education are hereby authorized. This amends paragraph 1 of B.Pr.S. Circular No. 6, s. 1975 which provides that weekend classes shall be allowed only in teacher education courses. Weekend classes refer to programs whose classes are held during Friday evenings, Saturdays and Sundays.
- It should be realized that B.Pr.S Memorandum No. 22, s. 1947 entitled, “Special Saturday Classes in College Courses,” authorized the holding of weekend and Saturday classes not only for teacher education but for liberal arts and commerce courses as well. However, subsequent issuances (Memorandum No. 41, s. 1962, Circular No. 2, s. 1974 and Circular No. 6, s. 1975 of the Bureau of Private Schools dealt only with teacher education courses.
- It is understood that higher education institutions authorized to offer graduate programs including teacher education need not apply for a permit to offer the same courses on weekends.
- For the information and guidance of all concerned.
