July 18, 1997 – DO 52, s. 1997 – Extension of Services of Retiring DECS Personnel
To: Director of Bureaus/Centers
Regional Directors
Schools Division Superintendents
The Civil Service Commission has called the attention of this Office about, the various requests for extension of services by DECS personnel beyond the compulsory retirement age of 65 years old.
This Office, as a matter of policy, strongly discourages extension of services of DECS personnel unless the same are extremely necessary and in the genuine interest of the service. The Department’s organizational structure provides sufficient number of qualified and next-in-rank personnel to perform the duties and responsibilities of retiring personnel, hence, their dispensability.
Henceforth, you are hereby advised to refrain from making recommendation for extension of services of DECS personnel under your jurisdiction, beyond the compulsory age of retirement and to follow strictly the law, rules and regulations on the matter.
