Cabinet Design for DECS-NSTIC-Developed Science Equipment

To:   Regional Directors
Bureau/Center/Service Directors
Schools Superintendents

1.   The    National    Science    Teaching    Instrumentation    Center    (NSTIC),   in   accordancewith its mandate as stipulated in Executive Order No. 112, “to prototype science equipment for the country’s secondary schools,” to date has produced prototypes of basic science equipment (Batch “A”) as well as of equipment for Physics Mechanics (Batch B ). Of these equipment, 1,651 sets have been mass-produced and distributed to selected recipient-schools in the regions.

2.   Feedback,  however,  have  indicated  that  the  aforementioned  science  equipmentsets have not been properly stored for lack of cabinets in the schools. The sets of equipment are being returned to their boxes after use by the students and placed in inappropriate places.
3.   In order to address this problem, the design of a cabinet (see attachments) is “closed for the NSTIC equipment Batch “A” and other batches of equipment that may follow or of other science equipment from other sources.
4.   With the end in view of providing proper and safe storage for the sets of scienceequipment to lengthen their serviceable life and to prevent damages, recipient-schools are therefore requested to source funds for the construction of this cabinet either from donations of the PTA and other organizations or from the division offices and school boards.
5.   Immediate and wide dissemination of this Order is directed.
