Authority for members of the Children Sector Council-national anti Poverty Commission (NAPC) To Attend Council Meetings as Part of their Official Function

1. Pursuant to R.A. 8425, otherwise known as the Poverty Alleviation and Social Reform Act,” the National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC) was created to serve as the implementing arm for said Act;
2. During the first En Banc Meeting of the Commission on June 29, 2002 at the Malacañang Palace, the 25 child members to Sectoral Council were sworn in and the CBS identified the Department as one of its partner agencies.
3. Part of the functions and duties of the council members are to attend to the following:
- quarterly sectoral council meetings which are scheduled on weekends.
- Annual assemblies
- special meetings called by the Office of the Presidents.
4. In this connection, schools are hereby directed to allow the child members to attend said meetings as part of their official duties and responsibilities. Their attendance to these meetings should be given credit as part of their extracurricular activities in the school. It is further advised that, if necessary, the council members be given one day travel time before and after to such meetings especially those whose stations are far from the meeting venue. However, it is understood that the council members will take steps to make up for their school work with the assistance of their respective teachers.
5. This order shall take effect immediately.
