NCAE tests Anewthe Skills of Grade 9 Students in Region I

San Fernando City, La Union – More than 70,000 Grade 9 students from the public and private schools in Region I took the National Career Assessment Examination (NCAE) on Aug. 26, 2015.

The exam was administered by the Department of Education (DepEd)through the National Education Testing and Research Center (NETRC).

The students answered 590 items in span of seven hours and 30 minutes.

The exam include, Reading Comprehension (RC); Mathematical Ability (MA); Verbal Ability (VA); Scientific Ability (SA); Logical Reasoning Ability (LRA); Occupational Interest Inventory for Students in Secondary Schools (OIISSS); Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS); Science Technology and Mathematics (STEM); Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM); and Technical-Vocational Aptitude (TVA).

Dr. Vivian Luz Pagatpatan, Chief of the Curriculum and Learning Management Division, said that the exam is aimed to determine the student’s field of specialization in preparation for Senior High School. It will also guide students as to what course are they going to take after finishing their secondary education.

According to the examinees, the hardest part of the exam is math and science. They expressed confidence however, that they can make it, as they themselves reviewed their lessons in preparation for the exams.

The result of the exam will be handed to the students for evaluation of their strengths and weaknesses.
