DepEd Region I joins PNP’s National Crime Prevention Week Celebration
City of San Fernando (La Union) –The Department of Education (DepEd) Region I participated in the Philippine National Police (PNP)’s National Crime Prevention Week Celebration from September 1-7, 2015 with the theme “Krimen ay tuldukan, karapatan ay igalang.”
Part of the lined-up activities for the weeklong celebration was the exhibit of the PNP’s programs and accomplishments at the CSI Mall ground floor, City of San Fernando, La Union on September 3, 2015. DepEd was one among the different agencies invited to take part in the exhibit. Brochures and leaflets were handed out to the walk-in clients who came to visit and inquire on DepEd’s current programs and activities. Content of the brochure include K to 12 general information, DepEd Citizen’s Charter, Senior High School Voucher Program and other priority programs of DepEd. DepEd Region I Personnel in charge were able to assist clients with their queries.
One of the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) was more on the Senior High School Voucher Program. For the record and information, the SHS voucher program is a way to support public school Grade 10 completers who are enrolling in private senior high school wherein a certain amount will be subsidized by DepEd to private SHS to offset the cost of the tuition. On the other hand, those who graduate from public junior high schools are qualified to receive the full voucher program. Private junior high school completers who are on Education Service Contracting (ESC) grants will receive 80% of the full voucher value.
DepEd Region I will continuously support other activities of the PNP especially in promoting respect on human rights which certainly helps in crime prevention in the region.
