R1AA 2016 Opens With a Blast

San Carlos City, Pangasinan – Excitement bursts as the Region 1 Athletic Association (R1AA) meet was officially opened through the parade of delegations on February 21, 2016 heading to Virgen Milagrosa University Foundation (VMUF) Sports Complex, San Carlos City, Pangasinan.

The opening program started with the Inter-faith Prayer by religious leaders to ensure safety and develop solidarity among the athletes, R1AA officials and coaches.

Serving as the guest of honor and speaker, Hon. Julier “Ayoy” C. Resuello, Mayor of San Carlos City, Pangasinan stressed the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship in winning. “Bilang isang atleta, ang mas mahalaga ay nanalo kayo hindi dahil sa magagaling kayo kundi nanalo kayo dahil ibinigay ninyo ang buo ninyong makakaya ng walang nilalabag na alituntunin ng palaro”, Mayor Resuello added.

Congresswoman Rosemarie “Baby” J. Arenas, of the 3^rd Congressional District also in her inspirational message expressed her support in the conduct of R1AA in Pangasinan.

Regional Director Alma Ruby C. Torio of DepEd Region 1 officially declared the 2016 R1AA Meet and encouraged everyone to actively participate in the weeklong activity as the R1AA delegation aims to level up on standing come Palarong Pambansa this April.
