IS to Host Next R1AA, New Stadium Inaugurated
Bantay, Ilocos Sur- The modernized Ilocos Sur Quirino Stadium was formally blessed and inaugurated last April 30, 2016 in Bantay, Ilocos Sur. Msngr. Garry Formoso sanctifies the blessing of the newly rehabilitated stadium.
Headed by Ilocos Sur (IS) Governor Ryan Singson, it was attended by the provincial government officials, Department of Education Regional Director Dr. Alma Ruby Torio and other officials, sports enthusiasts and representatives of different sectors.
The project was a dream come true for the IS provincial government. The stadium which was used to be unadorned has totally improved. New sports facilities were installed such as the rubberized race track, basketball and lawn tennis courts, and the artificial turf in the football field.
“We are very happy that our dreams came into reality. This Stadium is the 3rd world class sports complex in the country,” says Gov. Singson.
In her message, RD Torio commended Gov. Singson and his officials who took special roles in rehabilitating the stadium which can be a big help in developing the skills of the student athletes.
“With this kind of sports facilities available, I am confident that the athletes’ skills will be more developed in preparation for the next Palarong Pambansa”, Dr. Torio added.
The provincial government formally announced that Ilocos Sur will host the R1AA 2017. The hosting of R1AA 2017 serves as a great challenge to the athletes of Ilocos Sur and their coaches. IS provincial government aims to host the Palarong Pambansa in 2018.
