DepEd 08 celebrates four decades of service with elegance
TACLOBAN CITY, LEYTE, July 15 (PIA) – It is now more than four decades of passionate service to the youths, that DepEd 08 takes pride of.
They have weathered the storms, and are still poised to conquer challenges in the name of children’s education, sans the measly remunerations so to speak.
A few days back, a number of DepEd 08 school heads, teachers and administrators gave themselves a much deserved treat by meeting and coming together in formal attires, at least a brief relaxing moment from their usual school uniforms to celebrate their 41 years of education service.
In her opening message, Director Ma. Luisa Bautista- Yu was almost stunned at the sudden transformation of her teachers and principals.
“Halos hindi ko kayo nakilala sa biglaang pagbabago nang inyong mga hitsura”, she said, as she spread her eyes to the corners of the hall where found her teachers clad in colorful gowns with make-up, and formal blazers and suits.
But more than the formal wear, Dir. Yu stressed on the services that her department has contributed to the nation as a whole.
“I can say that DepEd Eastern Visayas has become an accomplished government institution”, she said.
“More than four decades ago, DepEd Eastern Visayas started building dreams for the future of not just this region but of this country as a whole and in every year that has passed, DepEd has gone through countless challenges that intensified its passion to serve the learners. My friends, reaching forty-one years in service is indeed a milestone. With vision, determination, and incredible effort,” she pointed out.
According to Dr. Yu, DepEd’s 41 years of successful service, is likewise a shared success with the community, the stakeholders.
“Today, as we celebrate our 41st Anniversary, we would like to share this success to our valued partners and stakeholders for without them, we would not be where we are right now. This event is not only for us who work for DepEd but it is also for everyone who worked hard to build an institution that is entrusted to promote lifelong development of our children”, she added.
Thus, special recognitions in certificates were awarded to some institutions, PIA included, for the support extended to their various programs.
A number of teachers, principals and administrators were likewise given due recognition for giving honor and pride to DepEd08.
Among others, three school principals were acknowledged for topping the National Test for Principals: Garry Vacunawa and Nestor Ada of Northern Samar and Aura Aguilar from Southern Leyte.
Capping the FAMAS-look-a-like event was the search for the best in gown lady and best looking guy in formal suit.
Supt. Gorgonio Diaz of Samar Schools Division Office emerged the best male in formal suit while Marilyn Siao, Assistant Schools Division Superintendent of Southern Leyte was adjudged Best in Gown.
