Borres distributes early christmas package for inmates
The Girl Scouts of the Philippines in commemoration of its founder, celebrated the “Escoda Week” on September 23 at Mardale Hotel, Pagadian City.
Part of the activity was to fulfill its oath to help other people who are in need following the Girl Scout Promise “to fulfill its duty to God, country and other people at all times” and “to live the Girl Scouts Law” for always.
In line with the festivity, Dr. Isabelita M. Borres, DepEd Regional Director, occupying the highest ranking position in the Girl Scouts of the Philippines in the region, celebrated the said event through gift giving at Lenienza City Jail, Pagadian City.
Packages containing grocery items and personal essentials were given to the 200 inmates in that jail.
Along with her were the Pagadian City Council President, Leonila F. Tecson, Regional Girls Scout Coordinator, Marietta R. Anhaw and other GS Coordinators who also helped in the giving of the packages.
As a matter of inspiration, Borres encouraged the inmates with her words of wisdom and further articulated on the importance of life, that for as long as we live, there is always hope.
The said gesture of charity works was appreciated by the recipients of the early Christmas presents through the efforts of the Girl Scouts of the Phlippines, Zamboanga Peninsula Chapter.
