DepEd Reinforces Data Management and IT for EBEIS

City of San Fernando, La Union – To further understand the vital role of data management in the implementation of various programs of the agency, the Department of Education (DepEd) Region 1 spearheads the training on Data Management and Information Technology (DMIT) on October 24-26, 2016.

The three-day training held at the National Educators Academy of the Philippines (NEAP) Region 1 was participated in by the Planning Officers, Information Technology Officers (ITOs), Chiefs of Social Governance and Operations Division (SGOD) and Supervisors in charge of Research from the 14 Schools Division of the region.

In her message, Dr. Alma Ruby C. Torio, Regional Director posted two challenges for the participants that is centered on Data Innovation and Data Stewardship. “What will you do if you have the data and how will you interpret it to be able to address the issues and concerns that may come out”, RD Torio said.

Dr. Cecilia P. Rosido, Chief of Policy, Planning and Research Division (PPRD) gave an orientation on the activities and discussions installed for the training and encouraged the participants to internalize the insights coming from the speakers.

Before the workshop proper, Ms. Corazon Luquingan, EPS of PPRD also made presentation on Data Management Process Orientation and Updates and Mr. Reynaldo S. Ancheta, EBEIS Administrator discussed on the issues and concerns revealed from the workshop.

The speakers were Mr. Alfredo C. Medrano, Planning Officer III of Schools Division Office of Ilocos Norte, who presented the Review on the User Account Management System of Enhanced Basic Education Information System (EBEIS) for K-10, Senior High School (SHS) and Alternative Learning System (ALS); Mr. Reynante B. Infante, ICT Officer of Dagupan City who discussed the concept of Google forms; Mr. Sammy C. Legaspi, Regional ICT Officer who presented ICT Accomplishments and updates, and Ms. Yehlen Yangat, Education Program Specialist 1 who discussed on the Basic Education Research Fund (BERF).

The Divisions of Vigan City, Ilocos Norte and Pangasinan 1 also presented their Best Practices in the EBEIS/LIS on Data Management.

One of the highlights of the training was the Recognition for the Best EBEIS Implementer (SDO-Small, Medium, Large Category) and their respective Planning Officers. Best EBEIS Implementers were the divisions of Vigan City (Small); Ilocos Norte (Medium); and Pangasinan 1 (Large). Recognition were given to the following Planning Officers for their exemplary performance in terms of EBEIS implementation: Ms. Gloria Cabotaje (Vigan City); Mr. Alfredo Medrano (Ilocos Norte), and Ms. Ma. Sheila De Guzman (Pangasinan 1).

Being the lead of the activity, PPRD ensured continuous monitoring on the EBEIS/LIS to further improve the services to the clienteles.
