Region 7 team goes ‘techy’ on Pasundayag 2016
The Department of Education – Regional Office 7 advances from the conventional flipping of books/reference materials in the library to the surfing of digitized science and technology resources stored in an interface as Dr. Juliet A. Jeruta (OIC-Regional Director of DepEd-RO7) and Engr. Edilberto L. Paradela (Regional Director of DOST-RO7) sealed their agreement on the acquisition of STARBOOKS or the Science & Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly-Operated Kiosk System during the Pasundayag 2016 of the Curriculum and Learning Management Division today at DepEd-RO7, Sudlon St., Lahug, Cebu City. STARBOOKS is a standalone information kiosk from 150,000 references all over the world which can be accessed even without an internet connection. Some of the scientific references/information from the Science and Technology Information Institute, DOST Science and Technology Information Network of the Philippines (SciNET), Philippine eLib project sources and other available online sources can be accessed in STARBOOKS.
The Curriculum and Learning Management Division (CLMD) also launches its Pasundayag 2016 with the theme: “Intellectual Synergy: Showcasing the Skills of the 21st Century” today at 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The said event culminates the set of activities of CLMD which include the following: Regional Commemoration of Disaster Event, 82ND National Book Week Culminating Activity, Special Education Program Exhibit and Showcase of Talents, and MAPEH, TLE and Science Exhibit.
