Briones urges DepEd accounting units to submit financial reports on time
PASAY CITY, February 3, 2017 – Education Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones urged all financial managers and other accounting personnel of the Department of Education (DepEd) to submit all financial reports on time to ensure smooth conduct of the Department’s programs and projects.
“We urge all accounting units to comply with the submission of reports. I know it is difficult, especially the tables, but we have to comply. Kasi kung ma-delay kayo, made-delay lahat,” Briones stated during the 31st National Seminar-Workshop on the Preparation of Calendar Year 2016 Year-End Financial Reports at the Atrium Hotel in Pasay City.
Recognizing that finance is the lifeblood of any organization, Briones said that if the financial reports are delayed, the Department will “probably lose an entire generation of learners.”
“Hindi magre-release ng pera ang mga regulatory agencies for our programs and projects if we don’t pass our financial reports on time… Hindi mare-reach [ang learners] dahil sa delay,” Briones emphasized.
For 2017, the approved budget of DepEd for its programs and projects such as the K to 12 program, curriculum enhancement and Alternative Learning System (ALS) is P540B.
