2018 Palarong Pambansa Opening: PRRD inspires the Athletes

Bantay, Ilocos Sur – “Being a delegate of the Palarong Pambansa is just one of the many firsts in your journey towards success. Embody good values, enhance your skills for this is the beginning of your greater participation in nation building.”

This was the firm message of President Rodrigo R. Duterte to the athletes before he officially declares the Opening of the 2018 Palarong Pambansa at Quirino Stadium, Bantay, Ilocos Sur yesterday, April 15, 2018.

Also in his speech, the President said that the government continues to eradicate the social ills of the country to ensure a safe and progressive tomorrow for the next generations to come.

Ilocos Sur Governor Ryan Luis V. Singson also ensured that the warm Ilocano hospitality, the expectations and needs of the delegations from different regions across the country are served accordingly.

Department of Education Secretary Leonor M. Briones in her message thanked the President for giving DepEd the highest support in terms of the K to 12 Program, the Senior High School Program, and the revival of the Alternative Learning System (ALS).

This annual sporting event with the theme, “Palarong Pambansa 2018: Championing the Spirit of Young Filipino Athletes” underscores the importance of reviving Filipino values through sports.

The Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur and DepEd is definitely ready for the Palaro activities on the days ahead. The Quirino Stadium serves as the main event for all athletics and Special Games. At most, there are 40 Playing Venues for the other regular sports.

Closing Program will be held at Quirino Stadium on April 21, 2018.
