ILOILO CITY, July 16, 2019 – The Department of Education’s (DepEd) Regional Information Officers (RIOs) from the 17 Regional Public Affairs Units (PAU) received communications assistance from Globe Telecom, Inc. (Globe) as part of the company’s #GlobeOfGood campaign which aims to integrate innovation with the power of collaboration.
The RIOs received load and sim cards during their benchmarking and quarterly meeting led by the Public Affairs Service-Communications Division in July.
Globe’s Citizenship and Advocacy Marketing Head Miguel Bermundo said that the assistance is in support of DepEd Public Affairs Service’s (PAS) mandate to provide timely and accurate information to the general public: “Globe is helping ease communication with DepEd internally.”
In line with this mandate, the RIOs gather and disseminate important information, and render public assistance in their respective field units, among others.
In recognition of the RIOs’ contribution to the Department, Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Service and Alternative Learning System Program and Task Force, G.H. Ambat, distributed the said cards.
“Thank you for serving as our counterparts in the field and for proactively communicating DepEd’s programs, projects, and activities to the grassroots. We also thank Globe and hope that this will help our RIOs in carrying out communications and public relations tasks,” Ambat said.
DepEd and Globe will work to find ways to inform teachers and students via social media channels on Globe’s advocacy initiatives that can be availed by the public school community, provided that engagements are non-selling in nature. In particular, this shall cover programs that positively engage DepEd constituents on advocacy-related services and humanitarian initiatives.
