BAGUIO CITY, BENGUET, June 20, 2022 — The Department of Education (DepEd) field officials on Thursday lauded the support of Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones’ administration in transforming the National Educators Academy of the Philippines (NEAP).

In providing the learning and development needs of the increasing number of teachers and school leaders, NEAP transformation serves as one of the key reform initiatives within Sulong Edukalidad’s pillar of Teachers’ Upskilling and Reskilling.

Following the successful unveiling of the modernized and renovated NEAP facility and transformation launch, CAR Director Estela Cariño and Region 7 Director Salustiano Jimenez shared the significance of the newly established NEAP historic marker and the transformation during the NEAP Champions’ Night.

“Today, we see the inauguration of this modernized building providing new facilities and a much-improved learning environment for teachers and school leaders. I am sure that our government’s investment will be of good value as it brings back a high return through a higher quality of service for the education of our young learners,” Regional Director (RD) Cariño said.

RD Jimenez emphasized that learning development activities are beneficial since “the effects and outcomes are seen right after the program has been dished out or in most cases are being built up in our unique individual as recipients during our development as we deliver our mandates.”

On the other hand, Region 8 Director Evelyn Fetalvero and CARAGA Director Gemma Ledesma mentioned the impact and support for the NEAP Recognition of Professional Development (PD) programs for teachers and school leaders.

RD Fetalvero pointed out that the capacity building and professional development program “helped clear doubts and uncertainties posed by the COVID-19 among teachers and school leaders, particularly on the discharge of the roles and responsibilities in the changing educational landscape.”

“Our support will redound to the betterment of the quality of education of children and the excellence of our leadership in education leaders. If we want to walk fast, we walk alone, but if we want to walk far [for the] professional development of our teachers and school heads, we walk with NEAP,” RD Ledesma expressed.

Coincidentally, NEAP also recognized the top three regions with the highest numbers of teachers that have updated their Professional Development Information System (PDIS), namely Region IV-A, VI, and III; and the three regions cited with the highest number of PD programs CARAGA, Region I, and IV-A.

“The launch is only one part of the bigger NEAP transformation implemented by the administration. We are enriching their toolkit of strategies and competencies so that they can better engage and equip the Filipino learners with the knowledge and values they need to succeed in life,” Secretary Briones said.

NEAP Director John Arnold Siena is also joined by former NEAP Directors Ms. Orfelina Tuy, Ms. Lorna Dig Dino, Ms. Fe Hidalgo, Mr. Erico Habijan, and Ms. Maria Lourdes Pantajo, who were awarded as NEAP champions during the inauguration and transformation launch.
