13 April 2024 – The Department of Education (DepEd) strongly condemns the reported ambush of a public school teacher in Mahayag, Zamboanga del Sur on Thursday, 11 April 2024.

The Department extends its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and colleagues of the victim.

DepEd denounces this senseless act of violence against our teacher and implores concerned authorities to heighten efforts in ensuring the safety and security of our educators and our communities.

DepEd urges the police to swiftly apprehend the culprits and bring them to justice.
