PASIG CITY, 5 September 2024 – iamtheCODE Founder and CEO Lady Marieme Jamme expressed her gratitude for the enthusiastic support shown by the Philippine leaders in advancing digital education for young women and girls from marginalized communities.

A renowned advocate for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics, and Design (STEAMD) education, Lady Marieme Jamme commended the country’s leaders, particularly First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos and Education Secretary Sonny Angara, for their unwavering commitment to the iamtheCODE mission.

“I am deeply honoured and humbled to have the Minister of Education and the First Lady of the Philippines endorse our iamtheCODE Program,” Lady Marieme Jamme stated.

“With their leadership, I am confident that by 2030, young women and girls from marginalized communities in the Philippines will learn how to code with our blended curriculum on multiple platforms, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals,” she added.

In DepEd’s partnership with iamtheCODE, Lady Marieme Jamme cited Sec. Angara’s dedication and leadership to embrace and strengthen STEAMD education in the Philippines.

The initiative also aims to enhance knowledge in STEAMD (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics, and Design), fostering creativity, job creation and innovation, alongside technical, soft and life skills.

“Leveraging Artificial intelligence (AI) and coding skills among high school students, women, and girls has been a priority for Secretary Angara since his first week in office. He recognises that technology can potentially elevate the lives of the youth of the Philippines,” she noted.

“The private sector and many leading businessmen and women diligently managed the groundwork for this expansive initiative,” she added.

iamtheCODE will provide access to DepEd schools to its 12-week blended curriculum (comprised of STEAMED workshops, apprenticeship programmes, and a repository of open-source online courses). Likewise, the iamtheCODE platform is set to offer over 60,000 free courses to young Filipino women and girls.

“We will build a nation of technical people who will respond to the country’s needs, especially when AI is at the centre of our world,” Lady Marieme Jamme affirmed.

As the Philippines takes this pivotal step in bridging the gender gap in technology, Lady Marieme Jamme reiterated her thanks to the country’s leaders and stakeholders, expressing optimism for the bright future.

“With the support of our esteemed partners and leaders, we are committed to making a lasting impact through STEAMD education. This commitment is unwavering, and we look forward to the bright future it will bring to the Philippines,” Lady Marieme Jamme said.
