17 September 2024, LOOK: Education Secretary Sonny Angara on Monday met the top officials of the World Bank Philippines to discuss ongoing efforts of the two institutions in resolving basic education challenges.

Secretary Angara emphasized that digitalization is one of the targets of the agency to address the learning resources gap in the basic education system.

Furthermore, the Department and World Bank also discussed the early childhood development and the plan of the agency to decentralize the implementation of various DepEd programs in ensuring that more learners will benefit from it.

Mr. Brunei Zafer Mustafaoglu, Country Director for Philippines, Malaysia and Brunei, and Mr. Alberto Rodriguez, Regional Director, Human Development, East and Asia Pacific Region, led the delegation of World Bank during the meeting.
