PASIG CITY, 11 October, 2024 – The Department of Education (DepEd) has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding video-based learning resources by renewing its partnership with the Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. (KCFI). The partnership was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on Wednesday, underscoring both organizations’ dedication to supporting the National Learning Recovery Plan (NLRP) and addressing the digital learning gaps, in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directives.

Education Secretary Sonny Angara and KCFI President and Executive Director Elvira “Rina” Lopez led the signing ceremony. The renewed partnership focuses on enhancing access to quality basic education by developing curriculum-based video lessons, particularly for Early Childhood Development and grades K to 3. These lessons will be accessible across Knowledge Channel’s on-air, online, and offline platforms, as well as through DepEd’s online learning portal.

The partnership also extends beyond content development. KCFI will support DepEd by providing capacity-building programs aimed at strengthening the Reading and Mathematics skills of public school teachers and administrators.

DepEd will provide policy guidelines, appoint a Partnership Coordinator, and collaborate closely with KCFI on the implementation of the initiatives, including joint fundraising efforts to ensure sustainability.

For 25 years, DepEd and KCFI have collaborated to elevate the quality of basic education in the Philippines through the creation and distribution of multimedia learning resources aligned with the DepEd curriculum. Their joint efforts also include professional development programs for teachers, school principals, and Schools Division Superintendents.
