CAMARINES SUR, 05 December 2024 — Education Secretary Sonny Angara, together with DepEd officials and partners, visited typhoon-stricken schools in Camarines Sur to turn over essential learning, teaching, and digital materials.

“Kami po sa DepEd, initial visit pa lang po ito. Asahan po ninyo ang mga darating pang aksyon. Makakaasa po kayo na patuloy naming isusulong ang dekalidad na edukasyon para sa bawat bata,” Secretary Angara said during the visit.

Gainza Central School received donations from UNICEF that included teaching packs, student kits, classroom materials, and digital tools to aid in learning recovery. Bula Central School, meanwhile, received learning packs and whiteboards from USAID’s Advancing Basic Education in the Philippines (ABC+) Project.

Angara expressed his gratitude to UNICEF and USAID for reinforcing the learning recovery efforts of the Department.

The Education chief also monitored the situation of Minalabac National High School, which was heavily damaged by flood. In Rodriguez National High School, he checked the school’s unique digital classroom equipped with computers and internet access, used for coding lessons in Senior High School.

In addition, Angara inaugurated Camarines Sur’s first learning and development center for teachers, the Academy of Inclusive Learning and Development (iLEAD). The center will offer training programs for professional growth, allowing educators to customize their learning paths.

Accompanying Secretary Angara were Camarines Sur 2nd District Representative LRAY Villafuerte, Governor Luigi Villafuerte, and other DepEd officials from the Central and Regional Office.
