BALER, AURORA, 24 December 2024 — Education Secretary Sonny Angara urged education stakeholders to collaborate on transformative education reforms that empower Filipino learners during the Department of Education (DepEd) Region III’s 2024 Education Week at the Baler Convention Center in Aurora.

“As constituents of the Department of Education, we know that educational excellence is a collective journey. Lahat po tayo rito [ay] may contribution. Each of us has a crucial contribution to molding the future of our students,” Secretary Angara said.

“Transformative education is not just the act of teaching. It is creating a culture, a culture which engenders growth, collaboration, and empowerment among educators and learners,” Sec. Angara noted.

The Education Chief reiterated the agency’s commitment to addressing key challenges, such as improving school resources, advancing teacher welfare and development, and solving social and economic challenges like malnutrition and poverty that hinder students’ learning.

Sec. Angara also acknowledged the challenging work of DepEd personnel and noted that they “are working very hard for learning outcomes, for the welfare of teachers. You [DepEd personnel] deserve every centavo.”

The recent summit features a range of activities, including learners’ performances exhibit, schools’ networking booths highlighting their best practices and innovations, consultative assembly, mental health and resiliency talk, sports festival, youth jam, heritage visit, and outreach activity.

Sec. Angara also lauded the efforts of DepEd Region III in organizing the event, which underscored Central Luzon’s dedication to fostering partnerships and giving transformative educational opportunities to Filipino learners.
