For Alyzabeth Kiersten F. Gutlay, a Grade 10 student from Quezon National High School (QNHS) in Lucena City, the National Festival of Talents (NFOT) was more than just a competition—it was a gateway to opportunities she never imagined possible.
Her journey began when she won first place in the 2024 NFOT – Lingo Stars (Foreign Language Writing Skills Contest – Korean) under the guidance of her teacher-coach, Ms. Eloisa Joy F. Ramento. This victory earned her a spot as a Philippine representative at the 2024 International Korean Education Youth Camp at Hana Global Campus in Incheon, South Korea.
“It was an unforgettable experience po kasi ‘yong makapagparticipate ka pa lang po sa NFOT is already a big thing, and it is something na I’m really thankful to God as it the reason a lot of doors and opportunities were opened for me,” Izsha shared.
At the camp, Izsha—her nickname—didn’t just participate; she shined. Competing against nine other international contestants, she won first place in the K-Pop Song and Dance Contest, delivering a powerful performance of “Superwoman” by the Korean girl group UNIS. She also showcased her literary skills, landing a spot as a finalist in the Korean Poem Contest.
“NFOT helped me achieved the dreams that I once thought we’re unreachable. I’m a person full of big dreams. I have many goals in my life that I really want to achieve, and NFOT helped me achieve them,” Izsha said.
Her story is proof that NFOT is not just a national competition but a platform for young Filipino talents to be recognized and given opportunities beyond borders.
Now, Izsha hopes to inspire other students to dream big and take every chance to showcase their skills—because one opportunity can lead to something greater than they ever imagined.
