Guidelines on Transfer of Medical Students

  1. As decided by the Board of Medical Education during its meeting held on August 11, 1986, the following guidelines shall be strictly observed in the transfer of students from one medical school to another.
    1. No transfer of students from one medical school to another shall be allowed without the prior approval of the Central Office of the Department of Education, Culture and Sports.
    2. No medical school may admit in its second or third year medical courses any student in excess of its first year quote established by the Board for the year immediately preceding the current one; however, irregular students are not covered by this limitation.
    3. An irregular student is still classified as belonging to the same year level wherein he has failed and shall not be allowed to take an advanced subject.
    4. Any student who has failed in 40% or more by weight of the subjects in any given year or who has failed in the same subject three times is considered dropped from the rolls of the college of medicine for academic deficiencies.
    5. No student who is dropped from the rolls of a medical school for academic deficiencies shall be allowed to enroll in another medical school.
    6. A student should have at least two years’ residence in the school last attended before graduation.
  2. This Order shall take effect beginning school year 1987-88 and shall be the standard procedures to be followed by all medical schools, government and private.
  3. Strict compliance with this Order is desired.
