Strict Implementation of DECS Order No. 76, s. 1989 (Revised Engineering Laboratory Requirements and its Guidelines)

- The policies and standards for engineering education are embodied in DECS Orders Nos. 76 and 102, s. 1989. DECS Order No. 102, s. 1989 entitled “Revised Policies and Standards for Engineering Education” embodies the minimum requirements for standards on personnel, facilities, curriculum, services, publications, and records. DECS Order No. 76, s. 1989 entitled “Revised Engineering Laboratory Requirements and Its Implementing Guidelines” approves for implementation the Revised Engineering Laboratory Requirements (RELR) Manual and sets the timetable for its implementation.
- Pursuant to provisions 3.1 and 3.2 of DECS Order No. 76, s. 1989, all colleges and universities offering recognized and unrecognized engineering programs are hereby reminded that the deadline of May 31, 1990 set for the 80% compliance of the RELR has already lapsed and that the deadline for full compliance by May 31, 1991 is fast approaching. Strict implementation of these rules and guidelines shall be followed. Recognition and/or renewal permits shall be revoked or withdrawn upon non-compliance and these programs shall be phased out.
- All concerned institutions should give immediate attention to this Order and should comply fully with the revised engineering laboratory requirements before the May 31, 1991 deadline.
- This Order shall take effect immediately.
