Program Overview

In accordance with Republic Act (RA) No. 7323, as amended by RA No. 9547 and further amended by RA No. 10917, public institutions, such as the Department of Education, are authorized to initiate temporary employment opportunities for low-income but high-performing young individuals to assist the latter in financing their educational expenses.

As such, the DepEd, through the Bureau of Learner Support Services – Youth Formation Division (BLSS-YFD) is spearheading its annual iteration of the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) to provide temporary employment to 300 Basic Education and Alternative Learning System (ALS) Learner-beneficiaries, aged 15–30 years old, for 40 days from April 21 to June 13, 2025. Similar to previous iteration, this year’s implementation is in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment – National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR), specifically for the funding of the beneficiaries’ salaries.

Furthermore, in line with BLSS-YFD’s endeavor to expand the program and initiate the beginning of its localization, this year’s implementation is in partnership with  DepEd Regional Office of NCR and its SDOs, as well as with DepEd Region IV-B, located at Pasig City.

Accordingly, SPES 2025 beneficiaries shall be deployed within the various levels of governance within DepEd––Central, Regional, and Schools Division Offices.
