Pursuant to the President’s instructions to accelerate the promotion of computer literacy in the government and among the general public, this Office will be launching a campaign for the donation to public schools of old or obsolescent computer equipment from institutions and establishments with computerized systems, as well as from computer suppliers and manufacturers.

This campaign will complement other moves and thrusts of the DECS to enhance effectiveness in teaching computer engineering, operation and servicing, by providing equipment for hands-on learning. Even discarded and unusable units and peripherals may be utilized for practicum purposes, with the added benefit that these may be repaired, reconfigured or upgraded during the learning process and eventually increase the inventory of modem instructional equipment.

Everyone is therefore enjoined to actively participate in and support the campaign. All donations should of course be properly acknowledged and entered into the agency or school property records.
Regional offices and other entities involved shall render a report on their accomplishments in this regard on or before 30 September 1994.
