22 May 2024 – The Department of Education (DepEd) mourns the passing of a Grade 5 learner in Alfonso, Cavite after an accident inside the school premises on Monday, May 20, 2024.

We extend our sincerest condolences to the bereaved family and friends of the victim. The concerned Schools Division Office has reached out to the family for necessary assistance during this time of grief.

Likewise, we are monitoring the status of the four other classmates involved in the said accident. School officials are already in coordination the local government unit, for medical assistance and the conduct of psychological first aid to the affected learners.

Meanwhile, DepEd is also working with local authorities for the conduct of a thorough investigation on the incident.
