PASIG CITY, June 28, 2024 – The Department of Education (DepEd), under the leadership of the Vice President of the Philippines and Education Secretary Sara Z. Duterte, has maintained its ISO Certification for Quality Management Systems (QMS) during the Second Surveillance Audit on its National QMS Pilot Offices conducted this month.

The Second Surveillance Audit was conducted on June 25–26 to determine if the established QMS of DepEd pilot offices are continuously maintained, implemented and improved to meet stakeholders needs and expectations.

TÜV NORD, one of the world’s largest Inspection, Certification & Testing organizations, conducted the second surveillance audit and presented the findings during the closing meeting with no nonconformities (NC) for the DepEd NQMS Pilot Offices, namely, Central Office (CO), Regional Office (RO) IV-A CALABARZON, Schools Division Office (SDO) of Biñan City, Biñan Elementary School (BES), and Biñan Integrated National High School (BINHS).

For this year, Undersecretary and Chief of Staff Michael Wesley T. Poa and Quality Management Representative Undersecretary Wilfredo E. Cabral led the Executive Committee in the audit for Top Management.  Likewise, in attendance as the Department’s representatives for Top Management were Undersecretaries Revsee Escobedo, Omar Romero, Gerard Chan and Assistant Secretaries Alma Torio, Janir Datukan and Dexter Galban.

As for the pilot offices, Regional Director Atty. Alberto Escobarte led RO IV-A (CALABARZON), with Division Superintendent Manuela Tolentino leading SDO Biñan, and School Heads Ms. Pilar De Castro and Mr. Oliver Caliwag leading Biñan Elementary School and Biñan Integrated National High School.
