Agusan del Sur National High School awarded as the Region-wide Statistical Quiz Bowl Champ

To promote, enhance and instill a nationwide awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of statistics to the different sectors of society and elicit the cooperation and support of the general public in upgrading the quality and standards of statistics in the country, the National Statistics Month is celebrated every year. As per Memorandum Circular No. 01-15 of Philippine Statistics Authority, all agencies of the government, local government units, academic institutions, State Universities and Colleges, and the private sector at the national and subnational levels are enjoined to actively participate and support the celebration of the 26th National Statistics Month (NSM) in October 2015 and the 2nd World Statistics Day (WSD) on October 20, 2015. As part of the response of DepEd Caraga to the call of PSA, a Region-wide Statistical Quiz Bowl was spearheaded by DepEd Regional Office in coordination with partner agencies namely Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and Philippine Statistics Authority. Prior to the Region-wide Statistical Quiz Show, an elimination round by division were conducted. The winning team per division were sent to Butuan City to compete against other winning teams from the other divisions. The final round was conducted in BSP last October 16, 2015 after the contenders were subjected to a 4-hour Statistical forum. The emerging overall champion of the said Region-wide Statistical Quiz Bowl were the contenders from the Division of Agusan del Sur represented by the students of Agusan del Sur National High School followed by the Division of Surigao del Sur that garnered the second and third place.
