DepEd, PGIS officially signed MOA for 2018 Palarong Pambansa

VIGAN CITY, January 31, 2018 – The Department of Education and Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur (PGIS) solidified their partnership for 2018 Palarong Pambansa through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) at Vigan City Convention Center yesterday, January 30.

The MOA was signed by Ilocos Sur Governor Ryan Luis V. Singson, DepEd Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones, and Palarong Pambansa Secretary General Atty. Tonisito M.C. Umali, Esq.

The MOA specified the duties and responsibilities of both parties to ensure smooth and manageable conduct of Palarong Pambansa.

A Press Conference also was conducted after the MOA signing. It was attended in by national and local media from Region I.

“One winning aspect of the PGIS was their offer of free transportation from Manila to Vigan City and the allotment of food per region”, Sec. Briones answered to the question raised by one of the local medias invited.

“We started to get good coaches as one way of motivating our athletes to perform better this coming Palaro”, Gov. Singson replied when asked about their strategy in improving the athletes’ performance.

In closing, DepEd Secretary stressed that the ultimate benefit we get from this sporting event is, it is good for the economy of the province as well as the municipalities and it fosters friendship among different regions with different cultures.
