DepEd Region I holds 1st Reg’l ICT Summit
City Schools Division of Candon – To achieve the goals of the Department of Education (DepEd) in the field of Information and Communications Technology (ICT), DepEd Region I supports its program through the first DepEd Regional ICT Summit with the theme “Digital Transformation for the KID (K to 12 + ALS, ICT, DepEd)” conducted at Vigan City Convention Center, Vigan City on November 13-14, 2017.
One of the highlights of the ICT summit was the search for the best practices in the field in utilizing ICT for teaching and learning and for governance. The innovation “Attendance Monitoring” of Candon City Division represented by Candon City Information Technology National High School (CCITNHS) bagged the 1st place among the nine entries in the ICT for governance category.The “Enhanced Daily Time Record” represented by Schools Division of La Union won 2nd place in the same category and the “Library Database System,” entry of Alaminos City Division represented by Alaminos City National High School for 3rd place.
Among the 11 entries for Teaching and Learning category, Alaminos City Division’s innovation “CAI for Computer Hardware Servicing” won 1st Place. Ilocos Sur Division represented by Mabilbila Integrated School ranked 2nd and Lananpin National High School of Urdaneta City Division for 3rd place.
The summit aimed to bring together ICT practitioners, policy makers, achievers in ICT education and implementation, and other stakeholders and provide ideal platforms to discuss innovations in education, enrich teaching and learning, build capacities for effective school and office management, and share top education resources. It served as an avenue to search for and recognize best practices in the field in utilizing ICT to effectively deliver teaching and learning, as well as provide efficient governance and operations, directly to learners and teachers.
The first placers in both categories will represent the Region during the National DepEd ICT Summit on February 27-28, 2018.
