DepEd Upgrades Educators for the 21st Century Learners
City of Batac – Make learning with technology relevant to 21st century learners – this was the challenge for the teachers who attended the 2nd Division Information Communications Technology (ICT) Congress on March 12, 2016 at Plaza del Norte Hotel and Convention Center, Laoag, Ilocos Norte.
391 teachers and school administrators from the City Schools Division of Batac, Laoag, Candon and Schools Division of Ilocos Norte participated in the congress with the theme, “Maximizing the Impact: The Pivotal Role of ICT in the 21st Century Education.”
Dr. Miguel Q. Rapatan of De La Salle University (DLSU), one of the speakers, said “Integrating technology is a way of preparing for the extreme future of our children. This is our contribution as educators.”
Other speakers who presented their best ICT practices were Ms. Joyce Orillosa of National University, Mr. Aurelio Jonathan S. Pagatpatan and Dr. Vitruvius John D. Barayuga of Ilocos Sur Polytechnic College, and Mr. Charles Maghirang of DepEd Central Office.
Nine competent demonstration teachers also showcased their ICT-based teaching strategies which are used to facilitate effective teaching and better quality of learning for the students.
“The use of ICT-based teaching strategies helps learners to easily absorb the information being delivered,” a demo teacher affirmed.
Ilocos Norte Vice Governor Angelo Marcos Barba and City of Batac Mayor Jeffrey Jubal C. Nalupta ensured support in providing technological equipment for teachers and students to improve the quality of instruction in schools.
Being the lead division in ICT integration in Region I, Ms. Vilma D. Eda, City Schools Division Superintendent of Batac City thanked the teachers, administrators and other stakeholders in making excellent innovation in providing the best quality of education for the students.
