DepEd, DPWH to hold coordination meetings for the School Building Program (SBP)
City of San Fernando, Pampanga— In preparation for the Senior High School program in 2016 and to continually address the increasing need for classrooms in the K to 12 Program, the number of classrooms to be constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and Department of Education (DepEd) for the years 2015 and 2016 has significantly increased relative to previous years.
Given the volume of construction projects which have to be monitored, the DepEd has directed all its Schools Division Superintendents (SDSs) to conduct weekly coordination meetings with the concerned DPWH District Engineers to ensure timely construction and to immediately address issues which arise in the course of project implementation.
Through DepEd Memorandum No. 125, s.2015, Undersecretary for Finance and Administration Reynaldo D. Laguda stressed that should there be matters requiring clarifications or issues which need to be resolved at the levels of the DepEd regional and/or central office during the said coordination meetings, the SDS should bring such issues to the attention of the appropriate office immediately for prompt action of the office concerned. Schools Division Offices are also requested to provide weekly updates to the Physical Facilities and Schools Engineering Division (PFSED) of the DepEd Central Office.
As of September 30, 2015, there are 430 school sites or a total of 3,116 Senior High School classrooms in Region III which are currently under construction as implemented by the respective DPWH District Offices.•
