LGU Naga City, SDO Naga City to host 2018 Palarong Bicol
Legazpi City – The most anticipated annual sportsfest of the school athletes in the Region will be held once again in Bicol’s Happy Place, Naga City as the local government of Naga and the Schools Division Office of Naga City will host this year’s sports event, February 5-10, 2018.
DepEd Regional Director Ramon Fiel Abcede said that an anticipated number of around 10,000 athletes and participants will be gathered in this year’s event despite the eruption of Mt. Mayon last month, affecting four (4) Schools Divisions in Albay.
Despite of the calamity, the Divisions of Legazpi City, Ligao City, Albay and Tabaco City will still be sending participants to the event with the usual support of their partner-LGUs.
Three demo-sports, namely Pencak-selat, Danceports and Aero Gymnastics will be included to the 24 regular sports, with boxing event including the elementary level.
While the actual sports events will be held on February 5-10, preliminary activities will take-off in the host City beginning February 2 when a Refresher Course for the Officiating Officials will be conducted, a solidarity meeting on February 3 and Fun-Run and Tree-planting activities on February 4.
Vice President Leni Robredo will be the Guest of Honor in this year’s Palaro who will grace the Opening Program on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Metro Naga Sports Complex.
Two years ago, Naga City hosted the Palarong Bicol 2016 with the main sports events held at the same venue.
