The Department of Education commemorated the 2nd year of the signing of Republic Act No. 10533, the Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013, through an event called “Sa K to 12, Kayang-Kaya, Sama-Sama”. It was held at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), Pasay City on May 29, 2015 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 NN.

President Benigno Simeon Aquino III graced the occasion with his presence. In his message, he emphasized the importance of the K to 12 Program which is the result of long planning done by DepEd, CHED and TESDA. He ended his message with this challenge: “If not now, when are we going to implement K to 12?”

Secretary Br. Armin A. Luistro FSC thanked the President for the good things he has done for DepEd and the full support he has extended to its programs and projects. An advocacy on the K to 12 Program followed through a video presentation.

Undersecretary Rizalino Rivera expressed the challenges DepEd is facing in the implementation of the K to 12 Program but he believes that it has to be implemented for the good of our learners. He admitted that there are many challenges to be encountered but these can be solved if all of us will work together. He ended by saying “Sa K to 12, kaya mo, kaya nating lahat!”

Secretary Joel Villanueva of TESDA, Asst. Commissioner Sixto “Dingdong” Dantes III of NYC, Secretary Dinky Soliman of DSWD, and other representatives expressed all-out support to the total development of the youth through the K to 12 Basic Education Program.

There were presentations given by a student, parent, teacher, and a representative of the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), highlighting the good things gained from the pilot implementation of the Senior High School.

President Aquino affixed his signature in a tarpaulin to show full support to the event, followed by the invited guests and representatives coming from the different regions. CRF
