Pres. Manuel Roxas, Zamboanga del Norte’s holding of the regional meet was an overwhelming success. This is the first time the municipality hosted the Zamboanga Peninsula Regional Athletic Association (ZPRAA) Meet conducted last Jan. 31-Feb. 3.

This activity was participated by the eight schools division of the region and aimed to teach the youth discipline, teamwork, sportsmanship and other values inherent in the sports.

As a point of encouragement and to boost the spirit of sportsmanship, Municipal Mayor Jan Hendrik I. Vallecer expressed that conducting this kind of event will eventually expose the students to accept deafeat and at the same time being able to celebrate victory. Hence, such lessons will be their springboard to acquire friendship and as a whole, encourage unity.

The Mayor added that he is proud to be given this opportunity to collaboratively work with the people in the municipality, local and provincial officials, employees, and teachers who have showed their all-out support in making this grand event successful. He was also thankful for all the help and backing they acquired. “Whether small or big, it gave us a lot of confidence, a lot of spirit to continue giving what we can offer. Roxas is a small town with a big heart,” noted Vallecer.

The ZPRAA Meet in Roxas is a unique achievement of the locality and an added feather in their cap for making the event fruitful.
