Bawat Bata Makababasa (BBM) Program
More than 50% of Grades 1 to 3 learners are not reading at grade level.
This is according to the findings in the Comprehensive Rapid Literacy Assessment (CRLA) for End of School year 2024-2025. In response, the Department of Education (DepEd) is implementing summer programs to address learning loss and close learning gaps. One of the programs under this effort is the Bawat Bata Makababasa (BBM) Program.
The BBM Program is a 20-day tutoring program designed to improve the reading levels of struggling readers from Grades 1 to 3, while also giving attention to nutrition and vision screening.
In the long term, the BBM Program, along with other programs under the larger DepEd Summer Programs, seeks to ensure that all learners achieve the expected grade-level reading proficiency. It also seeks to address gaps in learners’ fundamental knowledge and abilities that may be hindering academic success.
By helping learners stay on track and supporting their holistic development, the BBM Program contributes to the long-term goal of achieving educational equity.
