DR. CARMELA C. ORACION

Dr. Carmela C. Oracion has been in the education sector since she started as a high school Mathematics teacher 40 years ago. Through various roles in education over the years, she has developed a strong foundation in education and a deep commitment to improving learning outcomes. In particular, her role as Director of the Ateneo Center for Educational Development (ACED) since 2007 gave her the opportunity to spearhead numerous initiatives to uplift public basic education in the country.
She has also served in CHED’s Technical Panel for Teacher Education and Technical Committee for Elementary and Secondary Education as well as in the Standing Committee for Higher Education and Teacher Education and Development of EDCOM II. She was recently awarded the Professional Teacher award for 2024 by the Professional Regulation Commission.
She completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics at the Ateneo de Manila, Master’s Degree in Mathematics Education at the University of the Philippines, and Doctorate Degree in Education (Dual Award Program) at the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and University College Education. She is hoping to contribute more deeply in the development of education in the country as an incoming Assistant Secretary of the Department of Education.
